A toroid coil made of Fe-Ni dust core material is used as an inductor in electronic circuits to store energy in the form of magnetic fields. It boosts the frequency to appropriate levels by inducing a higher frequency through its turns. Toroids are more economical and efficient than solenoids, especially at low frequencies where large inductances are required.
