SmartElex Ambient Light Sensor – VEML6030

The VEML6030 is a high accuracy ambient light sensor that measures the intensity of ambient light in lux. It is designed to mimic the human eye's response to light, providing a very accurate representation of ambient light intensity. The sensor uses a 16-bit resolution to capture detailed light levels from 0 to 120,000 lux.

• Exceed Voltage Limits: Do not supply the sensor with a voltage outside the 2.5 V to 3.6 V range to avoid damaging the sensor.,

• Ignore Floor Life: Be mindful of the floor life of 72 hours under MSL 4 conditions to prevent moisture-related issues.

• Utilize I2c Interface: Use the I2C interface for communication, making sure to set the correct address (default is 0x48).,
• Implement Interrupts: Make use of the high and low threshold settings for interrupts to manage light level changes efficiently.,
• Explore Power Saving Features: Take advantage of the power saving features to reduce power consumption to micro-amp levels when the sensor is in standby.

• Description: The I2C address of the VEML6030 is configurable. The default address is 0x48, but it can be jumper selected to 0x10. Use a multiplexer if connecting multiple sensors on a single I2C bus.

• Description: Connect the sensor to your system using the I2C interface. No soldering is required as the sensor comes with connectors. However, pins are available for breadboard use if preferred.
