Working Principle

Description

The DFRobot Gravity Air Pressure Sensor (MPX5700AP) measures air pressure within a specified range and outputs the data via I2C protocol. It uses a piezoresistive pressure sensor component which changes resistance based on the pressure applied. This resistance change is converted into a digital signal representing the pressure level.

Sensor Types

Piezoresistive

Dos And Donts

Donts

  • Exceed Voltage Limits: Do not supply the sensor with more than 5.5V or less than 3.3V to avoid damaging the sensor.,
  • Expose To Extreme Conditions: Avoid exposing the sensor to temperatures outside of its operating range or to corrosive gases.,
  • Subject To Physical Stress: Do not subject the sensor to mechanical stress or shock as it may affect its accuracy and longevity.

Dos

  • Calibrate The Sensor: Regularly calibrate the sensor according to known pressure values to maintain accuracy.,
  • Check Compatibility: Ensure that the main controller is compatible with 3.3~5.5V before connecting.,
  • Use Within Specified Limits: Operate the sensor within the temperature range of 0 to 85°C and pressure range of 15 to 700 kPa.
Limits

Operating Temperature

  • Range: 0 to 85°C,
  • Note: Operating beyond this range may damage the sensor or lead to inaccurate readings.

Pressure

  • Range: 15 to 700 kPa,
  • Note: Measurements outside this range are not possible and attempting to do so may overload the sensor.

Voltage

  • Range: 3.3 to 5.5V,
  • Note: Exceeding this voltage range can permanently damage the sensor.
How To Connect

Connection Guide

  • Steps: 1. Connect the sensor's VCC and GND pins to the main controller's power supply within the 3.3V to 5.5V range. 2. Connect the SDA and SCL pins of the sensor to the I2C data and clock lines on the main controller. 3. Ensure polarity is correct to prevent damage.
