Working Principle

Description

The Waveshare Laser Sensor operates by emitting a laser through an oscillator tube at a frequency of 180KHz, which is then amplified by a transistor. The emitted laser light reflects off objects and is received by a matching 180KHz receiver tube. The sensor uses modulation processing technology to ensure that only light of the same frequency as the emitted laser is received, effectively filtering out interference from visible light.

Dos And Donts

Donts

  • Avoid Excessive Voltage: Do not exceed the maximum power supply voltage of 5.0V to prevent damage.,
  • Do Not Obstruct The Sensor Path: Ensure that the path between the sensor's transmitter and receiver is clear of any obstructions for accurate detection.,
  • Avoid Using In Overly Bright Conditions: While the sensor filters out visible light, extremely bright conditions might still affect its performance.

Dos

  • Follow The Voltage Guidelines: Ensure the sensor is powered with a voltage between 2.5V and 5.0V.,
  • Check The Mounting Requirements: Use the specified mounting holes size of 2.0mm for installation.,
  • Utilize The Signal Output Indicator: Use the signal output indicator to monitor the sensor's status and functionality.
Limits

Effective Distance

  • Typical: 0.01-0.8m,
  • Maximum: 1.5m
